Smith College Position: Assistant Professor of Chinese Language and Literature

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chinese language and literature at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 2015. The successful candidate will teach courses in Chinese language and literature. Desirable areas of specialty include Chinese literature, popular culture, or material culture. Applicants must have a native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Ph.D. or ABD status in a relevant field is required by the time of appointment. Located in Northampton, MA, Smith College is the largest women’s college in the country and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research across the liberal arts. A faculty of outstanding scholars interact with students in small classes, as advisors, and through student-faculty research projects. Tenure-track faculty members teach two courses each semester and enjoy a generous sabbatical policy.
